Komen Columbus Race for the Cure

Susan G Komen fought breast cancer with her heart, body and soul. Throughout her diagnosis, treatment, and endless days in the hospital, she spent her time thinking of ways to make life better for other women battling breast cancer instead of worrying about her own situation. That concern for others continued even as Susan neared the end of her fight.

Moved by Susan’s compassion for others and committed to making a difference, Nancy Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

In 2008, was the 25th anniversary of the race, the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world, with well over one million participants since 2005.

Our employees participate in the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure. The Columbus Race is one of the top 10 largest Komen Races in the World.

In 1998, there were 875 participants that raised $50,000 dollars. Last years race had over 40,000 participants and raised about $2 million for breast cancer research, screening, treatment and education. With these numbers, it is more apparent every year that more people are fighting to cure cancer.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Neighborhood Community Clean Up

In these times of economic uncertainty, it is increasingly important to embrace our customers and demonstrate the value that we provide to them. It is equally important to give back to our community and provide support for the less fortunate.

We teamed with Turner and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in a one day program to clean up and polish the community surrounding Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The Hospital is making a significant investment by spending millions of dollars to purchase and renovate homes in the area surrounding the hospital, and we hope to assist them in this effort in a small, but meaningful way. We are anticipating that this community service project will be an annual event that creates an increasingly positive and beneficial impact to the community each year.

Our people volunteered to provide minor repair work, painting and general clean-up to the exterior of homes that greatly improve the environment within the community.

In the end we will all make a lasting difference to multiple homes in the community and have a lot of fun at the same time.
